The United States does not have a universal healthcare system at the federal level, but it has notable federal and state contributions to provide American citizens with healthcare coverage and support. They include, but are not limited to:

Medicare: Medicare is a federal health insurance programme in the United States that primarily provides coverage for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as some individuals with disabilities or certain medical conditions. The programme is divided into several parts, each of which covers specific healthcare services such as hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and more. Medicare is funded through payroll taxes, premiums, and general government revenues.
Medicaid: This is a joint federal-state programme that provides healthcare coverage to low-income American individuals and families, including children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
CHIP: The Children's Health Insurance Programme (CHIP) provides health coverage to children from low-income families who do not qualify for Medicaid. It is a joint federal-state programme, and eligibility and benefits vary by state.
Managed long-term care (MLTC) is a state-sponsored and approved healthcare programme designed to provide long-term care services to individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities who require ongoing medical and personal care. The programme is typically offered through managed care organizations (MCOs), which coordinate and provide services such as home health aides, nursing care, physical therapy, and more. MLTC aims to improve health outcomes and quality of life for individuals who require long-term care while controlling healthcare costs.
HIE/HIX: In the American healthcare system, HIE (Health Information Exchange) or HIX (Health Insurance Exchange) are two distinct but related concepts. HIE refers to the electronic sharing of patient health information between different healthcare providers, such as hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. HIX, on the other hand, refers to the online marketplace where individuals can purchase health insurance plans, often with the help of subsidies provided by the government. Both HIE and HIX aim to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare services and promote better health outcomes for patients.

Some of the examples include, but are not limited to:

Covered California: California's state-run health insurance marketplace, Covered California, offers health coverage to individuals and families who do not have access to employer-sponsored health insurance.
Healthy Michigan Plan: This is a Medicaid expansion programme in Michigan that provides health coverage to low-income adults who are not eligible for traditional Medicaid. It covers essential health benefits such as hospitalization, prescription drugs, and preventive care.
Massachusetts Health Connector: The Massachusetts Health Connector is a state-run health insurance marketplace that offers health coverage to individuals and families in Massachusetts. It offers a range of health plans from different insurers, with subsidies available to eligible individuals to help offset the cost of premiums.
NJ Health Exchange: The New Jersey Health Exchange is an online marketplace established under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) where individuals, families, and small businesses in New Jersey can purchase health insurance plans. The exchange offers a range of plans with different levels of coverage and premiums, and individuals may be eligible for financial assistance based on their income. The goal of the NJ Health Exchange is to provide affordable and accessible health insurance options to residents of New Jersey.
